Sadie Dorchester spent nine years in Cape Town as fashion director of Marie Claire and then fashion editor of Glamour and GQ magazines. She returned to the UK in 2011 with her husband and family and settled in Hastings. Following the birth of her third child, a house renovation and the desire to do something different and creative she retrained in upholstery. She specialises in making ottomans and storage boxes in a style inspired by modernist art.
The house has been renovated but retains a wealth of original features with retro styled additions such as the sink unit in the bathroom which she designed and had made by local tradesmen. She has reupholstered the sofa, chairs and produced the various storage boxes in her distinctive style.
