Garden designer Christopher Edgar and his wife Lillie live just outside the town of Hastings in a characterful period home with open views across the rolling countryside. The Edgars boah their two children, as well as extending to one side. The main living spaces are light and well proportioned (a key factor that initially drew the family to the house) and have been lifted by a choice of hand made De Gournay wallpapers and a curated selection of auction finds and family pieces.

Christopher Edgar is now working on the extensive gardens, where he has already created a pavilion by the swimming pool, a formal garden nearby and a wild meadow. The house also forms a base for the Edgars new venture, called Lavender & Lillie, a collection of candles, home fragrances and soaps and hand creams. The collection draws on the Edgars’ connections with the botanical world, via a passion for horticulture and natural ingredients, but Lillie’s origins in the Seychelles, which has also influenced the new collection.
