It’s not often that a poster of a goldfish dictates the architecture of a new extension, but that is exactly what happened when Natalie and Tom Routledge decided to add a new kitchen cum dining room to their Victorian cottage in Richmond, London. When their architect suggested adding a window to the side wall, they decided that it was more important to accommodate the vast poster. This piece, like many of the couple’s belongings, has personal significance to them and as a result, this is a home that exudes character and soul. Over the years, the building has been adapted to suit a growing family, the latest addition being a garden room incorporating a TV area and office.
