Amanda and Guy Lambert bought their end of terrace house in Whitstable Kent about 12 years ago for weekends and holidays. They have a 10-year old daughter Lucy. It’s a 5-min walk to the beach.  The couple’s main residence is in London. Guy owns a Brand Design Agency and Amanda is an interior designer – she did most of the interior design herself but also employed an architect.

The couple has just finished a makeover project where they have refigured the ground floor: adding an L-shaped side and rear extension, to form a large sunny kitchen/dining area with glass doors to the garden, as well as a storage area, family shower room (with utility cupboard for washing machine and dryer).

Amanda’s style is simple, seaside, natural wood against a calming neutral colour palette.  Furniture is mostly family hand-me-down or junk shop finds which Amanda has painted herself.  She loves to trawl round local charity shops (aided by her Mum) to add to her collections of mishmash ceramics and glassware. Artwork is from local galleries, friends and artists.

Outside had what Amanda calls, “a Ground Force-style,” makeover when green-fingered friends came round one weekend and completely restyled and replanted the garden.
