A resolutely modern basement level has transformed the way in which Kate and Alex Chadwick and their two children, Thomas and Beatrice, use their Victorian home in north London. Huge sliding doors and a glass roof help to pull light into the space, which now forms the hub of the home. The rest of the property stays true to its Victorian roots, but the rooms are all united with a pared back aesthetic featuring simple, Scandinavian style pieces and touches of colour in the form of textiles and vintage maps.
